3204.0. "isolatin to ia5 converter feeds LF" by TAGEIN::ELCHAMI () Fri May 23 1997 19:17

Hi everybody,

can anybody explain me why the ISOLATIN-1 to IA5 converter feeds a "LF"
(linfeed) at the begin of the text of the message?

The problem is that with the LF at the top of the message can not be interpreted
from the recipient.

Thanks in advanced

Firstly, LF is a perfectly valid character in IA5, so there's a problem with the
recipient's system if the presence of such a character prevents them
"interpreting" (what do you mean by that?) the message.

Next, maybe the Latin1 bodypart starts with a blank line? That could explain
why the IA5 bodypart does too. Is there anything else unusual about the Latin1
bodypart?

LF is a perfectly valid character in IA5. But the recipient's system is an
EDI-system and EDI has the problem with LF at the begin of that document.

the Latin1 bodypart does not start with a blank, but after converting to IA5
the customer founded a LF at the begin!!

why does the isolatintoia5 converter inserts a LF??
