3192.0. "MAILBUS400 -> LMS problem" by JOBURG::BERETTA () Wed May 14 1997 18:18

    Hi,

My customer is having a problem talking to an LMS (Lotus Mail System
formerly Softswitch). They have a problem when Mailbus 400 sends them
a large message > than 30k. The failure can be controlled by changing
the checkpoint size. If the checkpoint size is set 1 on the LMS system,
all messages fail. If it is set to 7, then only large messages fail.
They get a message saying "invalid length" (I entered a note 3184 when
we thought it was exchange causing the problem, but it seems to be LMS
that is the problem) Below is a trace with annotation from one of the
    LMS support engineers:

Here's an X.25 trace showing the problem. It looks like a problem
with the interpretation of the P layer, but I am very unclear how it is
meant to be interpreted. Are PPDUs embedded within SPDUs or do they span
them?

The trace run's as follows (with anotation):

....

Various packets establishing connection from OMS -> LMS. Now we start
receiving a message from OMS:

Now, what are the final 6 zeros in the previous packet? Are they closures
of the PPDU indefinite constructs at the start of the message or are they
extra gash data?
