3135.0. "SMTP mails outbound stops." by NETRIX::"torbens@dmats2.dmo.dec.com" (Torben Sorensen) Mon Feb 17 1997 12:49

Hi,

I have a strange problem at a customer. Sometimes outbound mails
via SMTP-GATEWAY stops. And to start it again we have to delete
the mail for outbound. Any ideas for what can be wrong. There is
no error messages. The message that blocks the smtp-gateway is
being processed... but nothing more happens. Below is a mail.log
cut. That mail had stopped the smtp-gateway, and we had to
delete it.

Best regards,
Torben

I would suggest upgrading to the latest X-kit (SX213) before investigating
further. Do you have the Header Encoding attribute set to MIME? There is
a known problem in V2.1 when this setting is present with mail to more than ten
recipients: it usually catches people out in European countries that make
heavy use of accented characters in freeform names. This problem is addressed in
the X-kit.
