3180.0. "World search node and permanent database ?" by VAXRIO::63230::abreu () Wed Mar 12 1997 20:05

Hi,

   I have a customer running MRouter V3.3 and he lost the permanent database
and has no backups. This machine is a world search node. We are thinking of
copying the database from another world search node .. Is there any problem ?

  Thanks .. Marcia

    Under certain circumstances you can get away with this (you need
    both the perm db and aif files, shouldn't have any update activity
    on the dds network, the destination node has to have a valid config
    in all other respects, etc), but it is unsupported.

3180.2World earch and database not up-to-dateVAXRIO::63230::abreuThu Mar 13 1997 15:1611
Hi Dave,

     And if I have a world search node and its database is not up to date,
I mean many entries are missing and it's been like this for a long time. How
is the best way to have a complete database at this node ?

      I thought of making this node a non-worls search node and then making
it a world search again. I guess that will force it to receive all the entries
again. Is this the correct way ? Is there another way ?

	Thks .. Marcia

    Correct; toggle WSnode status.

    Or even better, set it /noworld, then set it /copyall, then when the
    updates are complete (monitor the DDS counters), set it to /world.
