669.80peat pots for non-transplantablesPOWDML::DUNNFri Apr 18 1997 18:0611
When plants are described as not liking to be transplanted, and therefore you
should start them by direct seeding, is there any reason you can't start them
indoors in peat pots, and then move the whole thing outside?

Lupines don't like their long tap root disturbed. Nasturtiums just HATE to
be moved. Ok, but this year I intend to start both of them in peat pots,
and then just stick the pot outside. That will enable me to get a head start
on both of them.

Any reason why this won't work?

    Not if you are careful and they get enough sun.

    However beans are so quick once the weather warms up, why bother
    starting them inside?

I didn't mention beans. Mostly, it was for the nasturtiums and lupines.

Thanks,
