2864.0. "Static Resource Conflict - Help !!" by KERNEL::PHILLIPSN (Neil Phillips) Thu Mar 20 1997 11:20

I have recently upgraded my system with a new motherboard, 32meg EDO etc.

All was working fine, but now I am getting "static resource conflict" from the BIOS at boot up. I have
tried holding down the Ins key, this clears it for that boot. But the problem always comes back.

What does this mean, and how can I fix it ?

All suggestions greatfully received

Ok, I have a DE200 network card, A matrox millenium (2meg) graphics card, & a Aztech sound galaxy washington 16
sound card.

Device manager says its all OK (after a lot of fiddling around !!).

Try removing the sound board. I had this problem and it went away when I
removes my Logitek SoundMan (PAS-16) because I needed an ISA slot.

Device manager showed no comflict; the boot message was the only indication of
a problem. In fact everything worked fine except that I had to hit the escape
key when I booted. (This was a royal pain since I load about 300 fonts and
it's nice to hit the power switch and go for coffee).

I've seen the same on an Expertboard EXP8551. I never had any problem with this,
but replacing the DE200 with a DE205 made the message go away. I think it's some
form of incompatibility somewhere.

Re note 2864.3, sorry for the delay.

The motherboard is a J-Star JS586-HX, on boot up the BIOS shows this as ACHI-5HX

According to Intel motherboard doc, which also has the same error
    message:
"A non Plug and Play ISA card has requested resources that are
    already in use".

Thanks for all the contributions, I am going to (try to) resolve this by reserving some resources on the
motherboard.
