2852.0. "Need Utility to Read DOUBLESPACE.000" by PRMS01::HCARTER (M. Hill Carter @DTN 339-7781) Mon Mar 17 1997 12:54

    Recently I moved two disk drives to a new PC. Following the
    move one of my drives, the Windows 95 system disk, failed.
    The second disk, my data disk, is a Windows 95 compressed volume.
    By hooking this disk up to another Windows 95 PC I was able to
    pull the file DOUBLESPACE.000, which I assume is the compressed
    volume, off of the data disk. However, I have not been able to find
    a way to read this file. Does anyone know of a utility which I
    can use to pull files out of DOUBLESPACE.000 ?

    Thank you in advance for any help,

    Hill...

    Why didn't you just read the contents of the compressed volume using
    the Win95 machine?

2852.2Try using DRVSPACE to mount the compressed volume file.snooty.uvo.dec.com::TRAVELLJohn T, UK VMS System SupportTue Mar 18 1997 12:438
I had a disk go south, and like you I lost the drvspace.ini file (on the dead
disk), I just asked drivespace to mount the compressed volume....

I remember looking at, but not having to fiddle with, the content of
DRVSPACE.INI. It is a simple text file, with ther name of the cvf and the drive
letter it represents...

2852.3Just Run The DriveSpace UtilityPRMS01::HCARTERM. Hill Carter @DTN 339-7781Mon Mar 24 1997 13:376

    I found my own answer. All I had to do was mount the file using
    the DriveSpace utility which is under system utilities. I believe
    you have to install Plus to get this utility.

    I think Plus just gives you Drivespace 3 with the higher compression
    levels. Drivespace (standard) is already in Win95.
