2785.0. "Selective Removal of Power Toys Routines" by SPSEG::BRAMSON () Thu Feb 06 1997 14:27

I have in the past installed Microsoft Power Toys. There is one
routine, quickres, that allows one to change resloution and color
depths on the fly. It puts an icon in the system tray as well.

If I go to the Add/Remove software, I see some of the Power Toy
routines there that can be individually removed. I do not see the one
    for quickres.

    So.....

    (1) How does one REMOVE the quickres power toy routine?

    (2) Depending on the answer to question 1, do I have to do
something special to remove a tray icon? Is this even
        possible for mortals to do?

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom/consolation.

You "remove" Quickres by removing the shortcut from the Startup group.

Tray icons are there when the underlying application is running. If you remove
the application, the icon won't appear.

    Steve,

Thanks for the lesson. Worked just fine. Quickres is gone as a tray
    icon.
