687.0. "Data Integration Error occurred?" by DEKVC::KANGOKSEO () Fri Mar 28 1997 05:54

    While trying to do Data Integration of .cpd file which I created from
    POLYCENTER Performance Advisor on my Unix machine,
    I got the following error message.
    And I don't know which action to take to solve this problem.

           [Selection Time Period WARNING]

    	   Error Setting Time Period from Filename
    	   Filename Format : yyyymmmdd
     	   Have to set Time Period Yourself...

    Anyone to give me advise?
    Thanks.

Are you using the Reducer on DUNIX or the Reducer on OpenVMS? You must use
the Reducer from the platform the data was collected on. Once you have a
.MERG file then you may use whatever platform you wish to use.

687.2Tip again!DEKVC::KANGOKSEOSun Mar 30 1997 23:2212

    I am using the Reducer on Digital Unix.
    And .cpd file which I want to reduce is generated on the other Digital
    Unix machine.
    Are you meaning that .cpd file should be generated on the same machine
    as I do the data integration?

    Ask your advise again.
    Thanks.

687.3problem caused by "_" in hostname.BACHUS::PETRIOLITue Apr 01 1997 07:1010

    Have same problem with latest V4.0A kit (March 21).

    Problem seems to be caused by "_" in host name.

    Example: psdc_ciney_1997mar26.cpd works ok.

             psdc_ciney_backup_1997mar26.cpd does NOT work.

687.4need solution, urgent!BACHUS::PETRIOLITue Apr 01 1997 08:0314

    I just re-installed an old V4.0 kit (DEC 31). Same problem !!

    I'm desperate!

    I'm working on an important capacity planning contract. Customer bought
    this cap plan because it needs to justify an upgrate from 8200 single
    cpu to an 8400 SMP to its upper management.

    Is there a work arround or can you provide a correction asap ?

    Thanks.

    Albert.
687.5temp workaround.BACHUS::PETRIOLITue Apr 01 1997 11:4614

    I found a temporary workaround for people in a hurry.

    I changed the node name (toto_backup) in the cpd file.

    With a binary editor (hexedit, shareware, runs on your pc) I replaced
    all instances (24) of toto_backup and toto_bac with toto0backup and
    toto0bac in the cpd file. Also renamed psdc_toto_backup_1997mar26.cpd
    to psdc_toto0backup_1997mar26.cpd.

    seems to work so far. Just lost half a day (3 hours crying and 1 hour
    work)
