1016.0. "CD recorder and WNT Alpha" by MLNCSC::DEPOLIG () Mon Mar 10 1997 09:00

Hi,

a customer of mine has the following configuration:

Alpha XL 266
SCSI NCR on board
SCSI Adaptec 2940
WNT 4.0
FX!32

The problem is the CD recorder device management,
the device reads CD-ROM fine, but the software, that
allows to write CD, doesn't work without ASPI manager
(WINASPI32.DLL doesn't exist for Alpha platform).

The customer asked me:
When ASPI manager will be evaiable for WNT Alpha ?
Is it possible to uses SCSI NCR for CD recorder management?
If yes, which drivers or which software permits it ?

Thanks in advance.

	You should contact Chris Williams ( lefty::CWilliams ) about CD-R
on Alpha Windows NT. We are in the process of getting Adaptec to port
their mastering software and ASPI to Alpha NT.

1016.2Want CD-R? Forget NCR/Symbios (even on Intel).BBPBV1::WALLACEjohn wallace @ bbp. +44 860 675093Thu Mar 13 1997 11:013
    It's barely possible to use NCR SCSI for CD-R even on Intel (Win95 or
    WinNT). I couldn't find a way of doing it recently so have given in and
    bought an Adaptec.
