1006.0. "Problems installing NT 3.51 on 1000 5/300A" by VAXRIO::EMILIO () Wed Feb 19 1997 11:40

    	Hi everyone,

    	Iam having problems installing NT 3.51 on AlphaServer 1000 5/300. I
    have already get the lastest HAL Kit on Internet. The installation
    seems to work fine until the first reboot. When the machine tries to
    put the blue screen on (GUI). It stops and this message appears.

    STOP: C000143 {Missing System File}
    The Required System File DISPLAY_DRIVER.DLL is bad or missing.

    	I think my video board is a PowerStorm or TGA. But I'm not sure.

    Maybe someone can help me.

    Thanks a lot

The error message means that you do not have the video driver installed.
What video adapter are you using in the system? Is it the on-board video?

    1. NEVER use the recommended default installation, always select the
       customized one

    2. read carefully all the instruction booklets that come with your
       system and the options. Make sure you understand everything.

    3. your system (or video adapter option) should come with a number of
       diskettes. One of them is likely to contain the missing file, and will
       be asked by the installation procedure. Otherwise, everything is
       somewhere on the net.

    Hi ,

    	I am sure that the video adapter is on board.

    Maybe this can help us with some clue ??

    Thanks a lot for any help.

    During the installation, at the scrren where you are asked if the list
    represents your current hardware configuration, say no, change the
    display driver there, sue the floppy disk that came with your system to
    load the driver.

You need a lawyer to install Windows NT?

1006.7Look in \drvlib on the CD?BBPBV1::WALLACEjohn wallace @ bbp. +44 860 675093Fri Feb 21 1997 06:1110
    In many CD distributions of NT, additional drivers can be found in
    \drvlib on the CD.

    Often there's a \drvlib\cirrus\alpha (or is that \drvlib\alpha\cirrus).

    That should do instead of a floppy with drivers on it, otherwise the
    instructions are as already stated.
