I've an internal customer who's come across the same problem 
an external one is recorded as having in the comet database (unix_96).

The advfsd is using much of the cpu and is filling log files with Freeing Memory 
messages, having gone into a U state.  This customer is on 4.0b rather than 4.0a. 


Why's this happening?
How can we resolve it now?
How can we stop it happening in future?

Custome has a advfsd taking about cpu% of the cpu
        utilization.  Is this a problem.
RE:     I logged onto the system and say the advfsd had a log file that
        had the following messages:

This was in the /var/opt/advfsd/logs and the process was in an
(U)niteruptable state.

File a CLD, or monitor the opened one if one is opened.

kill advfsd until you get a fix...
