TANK 26 is a four-member band from Berklee College of Music in
Boston. Their songs feature a unique blend of hard rock, alternative, and
metal influences. They are very energetic and enthusiastic about their
music. They have grown into a tight unit laying down a foundation with
heavy guitars, pounding bass, and aggressive drums. Their
thought-provoking lyrics tackle a myriad of political and personal issues.
TANK 26 was formed when drummer Bob Buckley and guitarist/ vocalist
Justin Ballard decided to do a Megadeth tribute show at Berklee College of
Music in the spring of 1996. To contrast the aggressive style of Justin's
guitar playing, they required the melodic style of Tina Morris. To fulfill
the bottom end requirement, they recruited a diversely talented bassist
named Erik MacPherson. The show went very well with great acceptance among
the students. Shortly thereafter, the band wrote several original songs
and recorded a five-song EP. They are currently working on more original
material, with a follow-up album to be released possibly this summer.
Bob, Justin, and Tina will be graduating Berklee College of Music
in May, all with honors. Bob will receive a Bachelor of Music Degree in
Music Business/Management, Justin will receive a Bachelor of Music Degree
in Music Performance, and Tina will receive a Bachelor of Music Degree in
Music Production/ Engineering. Erik is currently working towards a
Bachelor of Music Degree in Professional Music at Berklee and will be
graduating in May, 1998.
TANK 26 has sold several tapes and has an established mailing list.
They have received air play on WERS ("Future Tense") and in The Pourhouse
bar and restaurant. They are listed in the Boston Phoenix Fall 1996 Band
Guide and were personally invited to attend the NEMO music conference. In
addition to having played several recitals at Berklee, they have been
playing clubs in the Boston area since the beginning of November, 1996.
The clubs they have played at include the RAT, T.T. the Bear's Place, 835
Beacon Club, and the Middle East.
