The Telecom Level Requirements in term of high availability are very
challenging
Service Availability Requirements
Average system downtime < 3 min/year
Service retainability requirements
2/100000 per minute (the number of communications that are broken due to
temporary network outages, systems hangs ...)
System Failure Rates
Outage duration > 3 seconds: Failure rate < 5 /year
> 30 seconds Failure rate < 0.95 / year
> 1 mn Failure rate < 0.6 / year
etc...
The customer wishes to port all its GSM nodes onto platforms running
windows NT.
The only area where I can see NT today is the database server.
But NT clusters are not the solution (approx 8 to 5 hrs of downtime per
year according to the marketing presentation)
Which type of figure can I expect with a solution based on RTR ?
Performance data is also welcome. (will a RTR solution sustain 2000 tps/s)
