670.0. "The support of Standby servers in RTR/UNIX" by HGOVC::MICHAELWAN () Thu Jan 30 1997 12:29

    I am working with RTR 2.2D and OpenVMS and I need to migrate the
    application to UNIX.

    I use VAX cluster and master/standby server extensively. Since I am new
    to RTR on UNIX (and Trucluster), is there anything that I should be
    aware of? Will RTR UNIX provide the same functionality without problem?

    Thanks.

670.1What about Available Server TruclusterHGOVC::MICHAELWANThu Jan 30 1997 12:314
    Forgot to ask one thing.

    What if I am using Available server (DECsafe) only? Will the Standby
    server still work?

	Standby functionality will not work with DECSAFE. True Standby will
	be supported on UNIX TRUCLUSTERS in V3.1D.

	Since the VMS specific API is not supported on UNIX, you will have
	to do some recoding to allow your application to use RTR on UNIX.
	There are mostly equivalent calls, but you need to be careful about
	some subtle differences.

	The system management is mostly equivalent.
