| be sure and:
-scandisk
-scan for viruses (virii?)
-pull down a shareware program that is kind enough to locate DLL
files that are used by executing programs... *IF* you can run the
offending program long enough to where it (the offending program)
tries to access the bad dll.

4715.4 | check CTL3DV2.DLL | GRUFFY::ZAHORA | Rob Zahora | Mon Jan 27 1997 15:38 | 8 |
| Check your version of CTL3DV2.DLL. The latest version of this file is
2.31. I've often had install programs over-write this DLL with an older
version, causing the error message that you noted.
Also, be sure that only one version of this file exists in any of the
directories in your PATH statement. This includes renamed versions of
the file. If you want to keep copies of the current and older versions
for reload and compare purposes, put the copies on a different disk.

| FWIW, CTL3DV2.DLL wants to reside in the Windows System directory;
if it gets loaded from elsewhere, it WILL complain (at least any
version past 2.1x does).

4715.6 | Deleted OLE2*.DLL and re-installed....success! | ICARUS::BRANDIMARTE | | Mon Feb 03 1997 18:26 | 17 |
| Well, the problem is (or seems to be) solved. Not really sure of why,
but it was clear that the OLE2*.DLL files has something to do with it.
As I stated in earlier posts I de-installed all of MSOFFFICE which
included WINORD and EXCEL and then re-installed everything. But that
did not correct the problem. So, I did the same thing again, but this
time I deleted the OLE2*.DLL files too. After the re-install
everything worked just fine. So for now everything seems to be working
ok and I haven't had any problems crop up with other applications that
might use the OLE2.DLL files.
Thanks to all for yor help and guidance.
Regards,
-B2
