    Well I am sure all of you have had to move "your office" at one time or
    another. We just move across town. That's about 6 blocks. What a mess!!
    We (DEC) had been in that old bldg for 23 years. There were only 4
    of us left, plus 2 fes' working from home, and 6 resident software
    types. Other than that no one else.
    
    It took alot of work to clean out that many years of pack ratting.
    
    We are moved and it is much nicer. Although I must admit that I am
    the only one that isn't showing signs of illness. Boy that is a first!!
    
    I found things that really no one should have found.

    I love the weather now.  Allthough it is a bit extreme.  6:00am
    38F. 6:00pm 84F. Great riding weather. You have to bundle when you
    leave and strip when you return. And then you have those 
    "commitments" on the weekends, when you would rather be riding.

    Kids say the darndest things.  I have a 10yr old boy.  This past
    week he had his first "sex education" class.  We are pretty open
    and honest with him, and he has been to a few "gathering", so
    I was figuring he would be ok, maybe have a few questions or
    comments.  I told him to ask his dad or myself if he had any
    questions at all, after all I don't want him to get the wrong info.
    
    He got home after school and called:
    
    I asked him, did you get anything out of the class? 
    Answer: yep a stick of deoderant.
    Me: is that all?
    Answer: yep I knew where babies came from. the film was
    boring. the girls were grossed out.
    Me: do you have any questions?
    Answer: Yep only one ( I hold my breath)
    Me: ok I'll do my best to answer it. 
    Answer: Can I open by deoderant? I know I wont need it for
    a while, but I want to see what it looks like.
    
    I can hardly contain my laughter.  I said sure, why not
    we are all curious about things.

    	Well I can't believe it!!!! I should expect it... but I still
    	can't believe it!!
    
    
    	Yesterday morning, about 10 am I was informed by my boss,
    	(she was in training, in another state, and well I am remote
    	so this was all by phone)  that I no longer am doing my job.
    	I now have a new job. one I did not apply for or even knew
    	existed. I have a new boss, in another district. I was a SES
    	which meant I worked for Hardware side of the house assisting 
    	fe's in the field with anything and everything I had 3 states.
    	I used to be in the field until I was permantely screwed up
    	by lifting too much on the job and ending up under the knife.
    
    	Anyway, I did not know that this company had became so"dynamic"
    	kept coming up yesterday. I (and I would like ot assume) or any
    	of you could be doing one job one min. and a completely 
    	different one the next.  I had good pas' so I don't understand the
    	entire deal here.  So keep in mind that this company is chaning
    	at such a rate, jobs are coming and going and you need not even
    	apply.
    
    	I am baffled and a bit PISSED.

    	No I am not an RC, but let's see.... oh yea a DEC Move Coorditator
    from a FE to a Coordinator in 2yrs.  I feel for the folks that are
    RC, I have worked with a few of them,  and they are all top notch.

    It's the "new" Digital; leaner and certainly more "meaner".  New ball
    game, and the coach doesn't really care what the players have to say.
    
    One of the folks here has adopted the Eagles song, "Get Over It" to
    help him and others cope with the transitions.  
    
    Best thing we've been told is to deal with the present.  Stop comparing
    it to the past.  Live in the today, and "Get Over It". (not directed at
    you, SIS, this was for us.  And, it was said in a helpful tone, not
    dictatorial).

    	I am getting over it. I guess I am confused. It doesn't make
    	any ryme(sp?) or reason. I was raised to do your best even
    	if it's cleaning toilets, but I was also raised not to let
    	anyone walk on you.  If you do a good job, your job is still
    	there, you get "that boysz or girlz" your customers are happy,
    	and they put someone not trained in your position..... well
    	it makes you wonder. I hav had offers outside of the company
    	(pure coincidence (sp?)) this week too.  Anyway, the timing is
    	bad.
    
    		Tues. night my step-mom calls.... dad has a malignant
    	unoperable tumor on his lung right next to his aorta.
    
    	They say the big dude gives us tests.... I just hope I pass.
    
    	My 10yr. old is now giving me advice back.  I always tell him
    	"good things happen to bad people, and bad things to good people
    	it is what we make of it, that makes us who we are"  Out of
    	the mouth of babes.  Yes he knows that his grandpa is ill and
    	not going to live very long.... " they have bigger fish in heaven
    	and you never get hooked on a rock"  What do I know?

    Wish I had more answers.  I don't.
    
    Time to get on the bike again.  Amazing how much a ride helps.

    I can relate to your job woes.  I was sitting at my desk one Friday
    when someone from relocation came by and was standing around my office.  
    I asked if I could help him.  He told me he was just working out how 
    much room I'd need in my new office.  I thought there was an error.
    People above me were in meetings all morning.  Late that afternoon
    they got around to telling me that on Monday I was in a whole new,
    pretty much unrelated, position. Starting at the bottom of the barrel
    again.   Told them I was glad at least maintenance was looking out
    for me and letting me know my new career path (to h*ll).  It's been
    a year, and I haven't gotten over it yet.  My fault, sure, but it
    really hurt a lot.
    
    But then, your Dad's health causes everything to pale, doesn't it.
    Keep whatever faith, family, and friends you have REAL close. They
    are all that really matters in this life.

    	Well they say when it rains it pours.
    
    
    	My step-mom called again last night. They are heading to 
    	Mexico.  There traditional DR is going too. He has 4 other
    	people that have gone there and have recovered. No not just
    	in remission, but absolutely NO sign, not even a trace in
    	their blood, that they even had cancer. This is a very long
    	shot, but what does he have to lose.  The herbs and medication
    	used are ok for Canada and Mexico but noth the US.  They 
    	apparantly break down the tumor and flushes it out of the
    	system along with all the cells in the blood.  They just watch
    	the kidneys real close due to the flushing process.
    
    	I must say re: the job.  I did not realize how many people
    	actually cared about my well being.  I have had people that I
    	knew and dealt with of and on, trying to get me into their team.
    	I was blown away.  They say there is something good in everything
    	well I found out, just what a great bunch of people I work (ed )
    	with.
    
    
    	Still looking for the silver lining...

    This treatment intrigues me.  It's the first I've heard of
    it.  I'd be particularly interested in it's outcome, if you
    don't mind keeping me up on it.
    
    With the job, must feel good to be noticed and appreciated.
    Focus on the goodness, I guess.  It's about all we can do.

    	 And anyone else intrested.... the treatment for my dads' cancer
    seems to  be working.  He was able to walk (he had been in a wheel
    chair due to lack of strenght) without his oxygen, from his motel 
    room down to the shuttle on his own.  This will be truelly amazing
    if he recovers completely.  His regular MD is there and can't believe
    it.  He said if he hadn't seen it with his own eyes... well you get the
    idea.
    
    	My stepmom said there were people there from all over the US and
    the world. Australia, New Zealand, Finland ect.
    
    	Anyway, my dad is eating like a horse, has put on over 5 lbs
    and is feeling better everyday.  We wont know for another week if 
    the tumor is gone.  But so far so good.

    That is really wonderful!  Prayers on order for his complete
    recovery and thanks for sharing that information.  I want to
    speak to a friend of mine about it and may contact you later
    for more information.

    	Wow !!!! That was really quick. I'd also be interested in hearing
    about the final outcome, if you don't mind. I hope things work out for
    you and your dad. 
    
    	I know how disruptive this can be first hand as my father got hit by 
    a car this past winter. Two dislocated shoulders, one broken in 4 places, 
    and two compression fractures in his lower spine. He's coming along
    quite well though.

    Well folks, got back from the "other side" and picked up my dad.
    
    He did gain some weight... but not a whole lot.  I think my
    stepmother is seeing more than there really is, although he does
    look a little better.
    
    There are people there that are having significant improvement
    with the treatment.  Part of my dads problem is that he is really
    tired of fighting, he has been ill with one thing or another since
    I was a kid, he was in a wreck that should have killed him.. but
    just disabled him for his lifetime.  Anyway I talked with folks down
    there that could actually see the tumor size go down.

...well, of course this little story should be told here in Cycles, after all,
this is where it all started...

I'll try my darned'st to keep this brief but those who know me can appreciate 
that for me, that won't be easy.

Well, who am I? (or who is that username?
                  is the more likely question you're asking yourself!)

A lonesome few of you will recognize the username, you'll remember it from 
oh, way back when... :-)


Those who were here, remember back to the '88-89' years. Cycles was very active
then.  There were times when this notesfile had easily 30-40 new notes every
day.  People were friendly, and outgoing, and it was common for noters to get
together, for one excuse or another...  usually over a drink or two!... 

Well, I started writing in here in '88 (I think, --that's the year of my 
Sportster) after many month's of being a RON.  

In August of '88 I decided to attend an after-hours get-together at a biker 
bar over in Salem, NH.  It was the second 'Noter's event' I attended.  I got
to meet some of the finest people I've ever known.

I'll take some of you down memory lane, as I look at an old newspaper clipping
that's still hanging in my office.  I met Stiggy, Scalzo, Paul Davies & Sue
Richter (I think), Barb Christie (were you Christie then?) Matt Lapine, Roger
Allen (another I think) Sam Lambert, and Rocky Vetter (who dared me to ride
his big Heritage Softail, cause he thought I was just a little wimp who 
couldn't handle the Big Twin! - of course I showed him!)  oh, and Matt Rearwin,
and Paul Cormier, and i'm not sure if Chris deHann, rode up for that... and

..this young man, who very seriously walked up to me and said 
  "Hi, I'm Victor Mesenzeff"  and I thought to myself...now this guy is quite
   			      the looker, too bad he's so young...

Well, over the next couple of years we became friends and, back then, there
was this little crowd of people who could often be counted on to attend
any biker event for any reason under the sun... Victor and I (I more, as I 
love to party!) were among that crowd... gosh those were some great times! 

Well, a couple of years went by, lover's came and went for both of us, and
then one day on a Sunday sightseer's ride to Salem & Rockport, MA, the 
conversation turned somewhat personal.  

I'm not ashamed to tell you, it was I who said to Victor "I'm waiting for you 
to realize that you should be dating me"
    
    .... and that was the beginning...


Well, I won't chronicle 7 years of our relationship, I'll just say that there
have been some very difficult times, and some very, very wonderful times.

And 2 weeks ago, on a beautiful sandy beach on the magnificent island of Maui,
I married that young man.  

The day before we married, we spent 8 hours doing one of the many things we
have always enjoyed doing together.  Side by side, we spent the day riding
Harley's all over the island.  Only those who understand the real pleasure
of always riding with your dearest companion, your closest friend, your most
intimate lover, can fathom the deeper joy of knowing that you have committed
your life to that person, and they to you.  

The only day that has been better, than every day that I ever ridden, and
looked right beside me to see the handsomest man I ever known, and felt the
excitement of knowing him, and loving him, was the day I married him.

It doesn't get any better than this, and I owe it all, to this silly little
device called a computer, and the electronic wizardry know as Cyles Notes.

    	Boy, riding Harley's on the beautiful island of Maui must have been

    Congratulations to both of you!! What a great way to celebrate the
    start of your new life together.
    
    I remember that get-together up in Salem quite well. It was my first
    date with Steve. We had known each other a couple of years but were
    always dating other people. But our timing was finally right and when
    he offered to let me try out his new softail and he would ride my sportster
    I knew just the place to go. 
    
    Well I sold the sporster and my lowrider but I still have him and the
    softail. You can't complain about a guy who buys you a new bike for
    mothers day. It was great seeing you and Victor at Cal's bash and
    am looking forward to the next one.

    He had been the father of 3 families, but only fathering 1 child.

    Sorry to hear the news...said a prayer.
    
    The hope-disappointment roller coaster is not an easy one to ride
    until the very end when it is obviously not going to get better.
    
    My FIL died this past year and I thought my wife was going to kill
    herself taking care of him.  (We live in N.H., they lived in So.
    Jersey)
    
    Anyway, we rode maybe twice last Summer as a result, and the spark
    still isn't back yet.
    
    Again, heartfelt sympathies go out to you and yours.
