2251.0. "CLEANUP.LOG error messages" by CHEFS::RAVEN () Fri May 02 1997 08:57

Tape Clean Errors.

I have recently upgraded my SLS V2.4A server to V2.8A.

In tape clean log file (SLS$DATA:CLEANUP.LOG) I have noticed the following
errors. They appear against against 2 out of 3 tape purges.

Extract of error as shown below;
$ @SLS$SYSTEM:TAPEPURGEX "SLS" "9221" "RG71RW" "ALCD"

%SLS-E-FREEFAIL, free directive failed

%SLS-W-CMDSPNERR, error freeing $ @SLS$SYSTEM:TAPEPURGEX "!AD" "!AD" "!AD" "!AC"
%SLS-I-PURGED, volume 9260     purged at  2-MAY-1997 03:03:12

The error in question is the SLS-E-NOVOLAL message.....

When I check the tape database however ($Storage show vol nnnn) the tape is
updated from Allocated to Free status.

Anyone have any ideas of what causes this error?

Thanks

    This is just a guess, but it sounds as if tape volume 9260 was already
    deallocated by the time SLS$SYSTEM:TAPEPURGEX.COM got to it - the
    error message quoted would be the one seen if this were the case.

;-1 This could make sense.
SLS runs on a two node cluster.

Thus does this mean that a Cleanup would run on both nodes , running at the
same time?
