    Hallo,

After one year of noproblems, Customer GKSS tells me, that
every now and then they get Problems with their backups.

Looking at the logfiles i found following error message.

    BACK/STOR=V2SLS/RELEASE_TAPE/LIST=_MBA1450:/FULL -
    RAID_0:/IGNO=(LABE,INTE)/IMAGE/BLOCK=65534 -

%BACKUP-I-LBLOVRWRITE, volume label DE0571 overwritten, new label
    is DE05
    %MOUNT-I-MOUNTED, DE0571 mounted on _DVAXP1$MUA1:
    %BACKUP-I-READYWRITE, mount volume 1 on _DVAXP1$MUA1: for
    writing<CR><LF>Enter
    %BACKUP-I-NEXTVOL, volume 1 mounted - operation continues
%SLS-I-FINISHED, finished volume DE0571 on drive _DVAXP1$MUA1: at

%SLS-I-HSTBUFFS, 2 history block buffers used
    $       WRITE SYS$OUTPUT -
    "******* End subprocess output for FILES_1 *******"

There is noting in the trace_log, because it closed just before.

    on cartridge commands I get

    pic?
    DVAXP1 $ CARTRIDGE SHOW COMMAND dcsc_mount_volume
%DCSC-E-SUBSYS, 0:0:8:3 - Message timeout, AVAIL to ACTIVE

    Alpha 7000-610 mit KCM44, OpenVMS 6.2-1H3, UCX 4.1-ECO3, DCSC 3.0,
    SLS 2.7, ACSLS V5.0.

    Any pointers??

    regards

Hi Volker,

  > There is noting in the trace_log, because it closed just before.

The trace file is the source of information you will need to
begin troubleshooting. If it "closed" before the backup failed,
then I would suspect DCSC must have terminated.

The APACHE::DCSC_TC44 notesfile is the better place to ask questions
about DCSC failures.
