2232.0. "When .HST files are updated, how is the directory structure set up in the _nnn.dat files" by CSC32::V_HEINICKE () Fri Mar 28 1997 18:58

Hi,

We converted a .hst file today. What we noticed is that only 1
_CMIS_SUPPORT_DOC.DAT;1 was created although a 'storage report
showed many files in various subdirectories of this main level
directory. Does SLS only create _nnn.dat files for main level
directories or should it create a _nnn.dat file for each subdirectory
as well?

Thanks,

Victoria

SLS creates only one _nnn.dat file for each unique main-level directory
on all disks backed up. In otherwords, if you are backing up multiple
disks, each with a [USER] top-level directory, there will only be one
    _USER.DAT in the history databases.

Within the _USER.DAT file is listed any/all files back'd up within that
directory and necessary information about how/where to find the
    corresponding backup save-set.

    Hope this helps,
           Denny
