2956.0. "Need info on ES-1868 sound card" by CSC32::R_IVERS () Thu Mar 20 1997 15:18

Does anyone have any information/knowledge on a ES-1868 sound card. I am working on a PC for a friend, trying to
get sound board to go. He had it working under WIN 3.1 but can't seem to get it to go under Win 95. It is
obviously a generic type card. It is plug and play, but Win95 won't find it. Win95 did find the card enough to
allow me to use the CD that is connected to it. I have installed the drivers that came with it, they indicate that
theyare for Win95, but still no luck. Any hints/tricks to getting this thing to work?

Thanks in advance!

    Rodney,

    The ESS-1868 (and 1688) are simply the main chip that the sound card is
    based on. You need to find out who the manufacturer of the card is so
    you can hunt through AltaVista to find the latest drivers. The ESS
    chips are described in www.esstech.com, but they do not have drivers.
