2929.0. "PCI graphics controller(PBXGA-AA/AN)" by HLFS00::HEIDE_E () Mon Feb 24 1997 12:42

    I have a customer with several graphics controllers left over from a
    upgrade to 16 MB version's.

    The boards are : ZLXpp-E1 or PBXGA-AA/AN
    		     Part number on board is 54-2384-01 Rev E02
    What i now try too do,is to get the controllers working in an Intel
    based machine.
    I already tried the board in a Pentium from Olivetie en in my personal
    Clone (60Mhz) pentium at home.
    Both with out result... No out put on the screen.
    In my personal system i use a Miro PCI card with out problems,direct
    seen and working..
    Last weekend i bought a other PCI based mother board,with the same
    result.. Nothing on the screen.

    My question now is.. Is this board only working in a Alpha based system
    or when NOT what am i doing wrong..

    Answers and suggestions are welcom.. I try everything

    With reagards,

2929.1Alpha code in the Video BIOS?PCBUOA::LIBKINDSam Libkind - PC Support Engineering 276-9465Tue Feb 25 1997 11:547
    Never heard about this card. It was never tested/qualified in PCs.
    What is the graphics shipet on the card? Is it S3? What is the chip
    markings?
    I am not sure but if it was used on a Alpha w/s it may have the Alpha
    code in the Video BIOS.

These are DEC-designed products for Alpha workstations. I'm not very
familiar with them, but you might try posting to WRKSYS::ALPHASTATION.

(There's another notesfile unique to the ZLXp* adapters, but I don't know
if it's supposed to be common knowledge ... in any event, it's inactive.
One of the notes there, in response to a question similar to yours, says:
"ZLXp-E1 does not have a BIOS ROM" and should not be expected to work on
an Intel-based PC.)
2929.3TGA not supported on IntelBGSDEV::QUINLANMark Quinlan,NT 3D Graphics GroupWed Feb 26 1997 17:429
The ZLXp-E* (TGA1) had Intel driver in beta test at one time, but
the driver was never released. Since there is no VGA chip on this card
you can't even use it in VGA mode. Summary - no TGA drivers for Intel
based machines.

Try finding a friend with an Alpha machine with a Matrox Millenium in
it and making a swap.
