2894.0. "Help on REVEAL CD Compatibility" by NPSS::PARE () Tue Jan 28 1997 11:50

I am looking for information on the config for a CDROM drive for a
friend. It is a REVEAL model CD D02. This person had a 16bit Sound card
initially and then later tried to add the CDROM. The sound card has a
connector marked Panasonic. The CDROM is engraved with the vendor
marking Matsushita. Any idea if these are compatible? What we've seen
is that the drivers load successfully but an error message says that
either the CDROM power is disconnected or the CDROM is not working.
Providing that they are not compatible, which component would you
replace the sound card or the drive?

Since Reveal is 'out of business' I'd look to replace the CD ROM
(Provided you can not get it to work.)

Who makes the sound card? Panasonic and Matsushita are one and the
same, so the interface is correct. What drivers are you using, the
sound card's or Reveal's? I've had problems in the past using the
drivers Reveal bundles with their CD-ROM kits on SoundBlaster cards
and had to get the drivers from Creative's web site.

Also, if this is the first time you've tried using the Panasonic/
Matsushita interface on the sound card, you may need to change
jumpers or run a software configuration program. Check the sound card's
	documentation.

BTW & FWIW, I'm pretty sure the CDD002 is a Panasonic CR-563.

I have my Matsushita connected to my 16 bit sound card...which
happens to be a soundblaster 16. Works fine. So if you have
an SB16 with a Matsushita/Panasonic/Reveal it should work.
