Have a minor annoyance that I thought I'd air here:

Every now and then, when I power up my PC, I get a SIGNAL MISSING
message flashed up on my MAG monitor. If I shut off the PC and wiggle
the wires from the monitor to the PC, it boots up fine when I turn it
    back on.

    	Bad cable/connector perhaps?

    Jim,

Have you ever just power cycled the monitor and/or system without
touching the cable to see what happens?

Does your monitor get powered up the same time as your PC (via a
power strip or maybe an outlet on the back of the PC's case? If
so, you might want to wait and turn the monitor on a few seconds
after you turn the system on. I've seen some strange behavior with
some monitors and video cards at power-up time, which might have to
do with the syncing of the monitor/card. If this works (or just power
cycling the monitor) the cable is probably OK. What is the video card
    make/model?

I've always seen it mentioned in pc user manuals, and eleswhere,
to power up the monitor first, then power up the pc box. This
provides time for the monitor electronics to power up so they
can present the signaling needed for the pc to recognize the
monitor type etc. It also minimizes voltage/current surges that
might be prevalent when both are powered up at the same time,
which could cause damage to either the monitor electronics or
to the video card in the pc box. It's also usually mentioned
when powering off, to power down the pc box first then shut off
monitor, to also minimize spikes and surges. So the advice is
usualy stated relative to monitor terms...

power on - monitor first power off - monitor last

I've been powering the monitor up AFTER I power up the PC, so maybe
that's my issue. The video card is a Diamond Stealth with 4MB VRAM...

    	thanks!
