1270.0. "Bad Search-Editor interaction" by CAIRN::HARRIS (Kevin Harris, dtn 381-2039) Mon Apr 14 1997 15:24

I understood from my Fuse demo that the tools are supposed to interact to the
extent that, if a given tool is already active (has a window on the screen),
then invoking that tool from inside another tool should use THAT window, rather
than opening a new one.

This doesn't work with the Editor and the Search utility. If I open an Editor
window, then the Search utility, then search for a string, then double-click
on one of its results, the Search utility opens ANOTHER editor window,
rather than use the existing one.

1270.1Are they in the same group?TLE::CHAYATue Apr 15 1997 13:407
FUSE separates tools into toolgroups. Tools can interact only with other tools
in the same group. Is your original editor window and the search tool in the
same tool group? (ToolGroups are listed in the Control Panel) If so, the
behavior you noticed should be entered as a bug - please do give us more details
about the version of FUSE you are running, steps to reproduce the problem etc.

Chaya,

Hmm, no they are not. I forgot to check that in the control window before
entering the note. I reconstructed my saved configuration such that all my
tools are in the same Toolgroup, and it works as expected now. Thanks for the
hint!
