318.0. "DECset 11.2 with OpenVMS Alpha 7.0?" by MLNCSC::BORGINI () Wed Feb 19 1997 11:41

Hi folks,
my customer needs some informations about DECset installation.

He has just installed OpenVMS ALPHA 7.0 on his Alpha 4610, then he has tried
to install DECset 11.2 with SCA 4.2-134, having a license for DECset of
10-SEPT-1995, but during IVP phase appear the errors:

                         %SYSTEM-F-STKOVF
                         %ADA-I-TASTERUNH
                         %ADA-F-EXCCOPX

Before the installation of version 7.0, DECset 11.2 worked correctly with
OpenVMS Alpha 6.2 on the same system.
Reading the Master index of DEC 96 for layered products, I've read that the
version 12.1 of DECset is the last for OpenVMS Alpha 7.0; but I've not
found any document by minimum compatibility OpenVMS Alpha/DECset (on TIMA,
on this conference, reading OpenVMS 7.0 Installation/Release notes/SPD I
haven't found anything).
Also the STARS article "[DECset] Compatibility of VAXSET DECSET Products And
VMS Versions" is old and not updated.
Is there anywhere a document for compatibilty between OpenVMS 7.0 and all
layered products (a manual or a pointer in Internet)?
My customer should consult a document similar before to install any products
(and he have to install many products on this system....).
Thanks in advance for any hints.
Regards,
       Roberto.

Hi Roberto,

SCA 4.2-134 is not supported on OpenVMS V7.0. They should at lease upgrade it
to DECset 12.0C (SCA 4.3-05).

Sorry, I don't know. Anyone know ?
