3275.0. "XDMCP failure with eXcursion V3.0 and Unix host" by EPICDA::GEORGES () Fri Apr 25 1997 08:34

eXcursion V3.0 from Pathworks 32
Unix V4.0A host
XDMCP

Hi,

A customer of mine has just installed eXcursion V3.0 from Pathworks 32.

He is able to get X application from the Unix V4.0A host, but when he tries to
use XDMCP, he enter his Username/Password, he get the message "Starting the
common Desktop environment", then there is an error message like:

.. Protocol .. Request = change window attributes, error = BadAccess.

The problem does occur for any host account (priviledged or not)

The customer tell me the following:

1.There was no problem before with eXcursion V2.1.
2.There was no change from the host side.
3.The users that are still using eXcursion V2.1 have no problem for using
XDMCP on the same host (same accounts).

See below some messages collected from the host :

Any idea on what may be wrong, what to check?

Thank you for your help!
	\Pierre.

Check to make sure that the server is set to allow remote window
managers. See the control panel "Xwindow" tab for that. Make sure
the box is checked, and try it again. CDE starts incorrectly if dtwm
is not available, and dtwm won't start if that box isn't checked.

Thank you Gary!

"Allow Foreign Window Managers" was disabled.
It is working now.
