3251.0. "Couldn't add font path element" by PLACEK::ochota.rpw.dec.com::Parlinski (JaroslawParlinski@RPW) Mon Mar 10 1997 16:09

Hi,

I have problems with eXcursion 3.0554 (from SSB)
in Windows NT4.0 (intel) environment.
I want to add Latin-2 font support to my eXcursion
DECw$terminal session. My Latin-2 BDF fonts worked fine
(after compiling them to SNF and XFN) for the previous
version of DWDOS and eXcursion 1.x.
Now I use bdftopcf.exe from the eXcursion 3.0 fontool
directory - get pcf files, put them together with
fonts.ali and fonts.dir into new directory, add the
new font directory in eXcursion control panel. After
clicking the Aply button I get warning :
	"Couldn't add font path element
	d:\win32app\xcursion\fonts\term75"
My questions :
Are there special hints to produce and add new pcf fonts ?
I do not know the meaning of all options for bdftopcf.exe
and used just bdftopcf -oname.pcf name.bdf

Regardless of how it's all supposed to work, I'd recommend that you
not put a fonts.dir file in there at all. From a command prompt
cd into your new font directory and run fontdir.exe to generate
a new fonts.dir for you from the list of existing fonts.

Does it work if you do not convert the files to PCF? eXcursion will
use BDF files directly. Put all the bdfs in one directory, run fontdir.exe
to generate a new fonts.dir file and copy your fonts.ali file into the directory.
Then from the control panel, try adding the new directory to the path.
If that all works, then you may want to try converting the bdf's to pcf files
and rerunning the fontdir.exe program to add the pcf files to the fonts.dir file.
