13.2Getting trap to work for NT4.0NPSS::GEHLYTue Mar 11 1997 17:5916
    How to get this trap fcility to run using Windows NT4.0?
    I'm trying to run excursion on an IntelPC running WindowsNT4.0. These
    instructions are for a Windows3.1 setup. Is there an easier way to get
    excursion up and running on this platform? Presently I have to "open"
    a telnet session, then open an excursion window that points to the
    telnet window. That seems like a lot a run-about work for nothing.

    I would like to test out this "trap" feature though, but have not been
    sucessful in getting the excursion tool to recognize what I want it to
    do.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

1) Open an NT command prompt window
2) \win32app\xcursion\x86\wxserver -trap=foo.bar

There is no need to do all that. What happens when you try to run your
applications from the PC?

13.4Who should we send the trapped file to?NETCAD::ENGThu Mar 13 1997 13:0314
    Dave Gehly (.2) and I are trying to chase down a problem with an
    application running on Digital UNIX. It is the Synopsys' logic
    simulator VSS. When we tried to run their waveform display tool,
    the eXcursion window displayed a blank window. We found this trap
    switch in this note and would like to see if we can capture some info
    for debugging.

    After we captured the data on a file, who should we send that to to have
    that evaluated?

    Thanks.

If it is for an external customer, open an IPMT case for it and include
a pointer to the trap file.

If it is for a DEC internal, submit a QAR with a pointer to the file.

But before submitting either of them, perhaps we should try to
troubleshoot it first.

What configurations of eXcursion have you tried? If you have not done
so, please run the application in single window mode. That way we
can ensure that backing store is available. This will also force you
to select a window manager. There are applications that "expect" to
be managed by mwm (Motif window manager) or perhaps some other. Run
the window manager that would normally be running on the Dunix system.

What version of eXcursion is being used?
