    Hello,

my customer has a DECnis 600 with installed the version 2.3-6 in this
DECnis has an old w618, this board worked up to 64K, he now would instal
the new w618 board (DNSCA-XX) 8x128K, he ask to me if there is an
upgrade from old to new board, if must change the panel , if must upgrade
   the software.
   Thanks in advance.

                                     Paolo

Paolo,

You should be able to run your old W618 at 8x128K

We didn't make any hardware changes to the W618 to make it go faster - it is
actually physically capable of slightly faster speeds than 8x128K

What we did do was attempt to make the software that runs on it go faster (which
may have been around the V2.2/V2.3 days). At this time we evaluated the maximum
speed for the hardware (somewhere around 192K) and also the maximum reliable
speed for the Line Card Software (8x128K). After this study we probably started
selling W618s as 8x128K even though they actually hadn't changed

Have you tried to run the old card at 8x128K?

	Chris,

the customer putted to me the question because he would change the line
from 64K to 128K, but, before of do the new agreement with the provider he
wont understand if his old board run to 128K.
  Thank you for the help.
