3589.0. "MPC - 'flash upgrade'" by NETRIX::"empeigne@mail.dec.com" (Jean-Yves) Sat Apr 05 1997 05:13

A customer reported the following prompt when attempting to create some more
filters:

WARNING - Output too large for old MPC flash
Combine Done - Image version 3.1-2

Does this mean he needs to upgrade to MPC II or MPC III or is it possible to
only
upgrade the flash memory.

Thanks,

Jean-Yves,
Sydney, Australia.

Jean-Yves,

No, the flash memory size is fixed.

>Image version 3.1-2

We have seen this problem on later fix kits, where the DECNIS Image
has grown in size and we have an experimental system in the latest
fix kit to allow the script and profile files to be compressed.
This suggests that your problem will get worse.

You should have a look at the combined file with mod_flsh in order
to see how much you are over. If the customer is not using X.25
then you can use mod_flsh to delete the two X25 profile files and
that will probably be enough. (There is no supported way of getting
the configurator to exclude them so don't ask and don't make any
suggestions - using mod_flsh is the only way.)

If the customer is using X.25 then get them to buy an MPC-III anyway.

Regards,
Peter
