3555.0. ""OSPF Network Summary Links Overflow"" by CSC32::SCHMALSTIEG () Sun Feb 23 1997 23:32

    Greetings,

The below problem statement was received at the CSC via DSNLink.
    Any and all comments appreciated.

I have a DECNIS 600 connecting via FDDI to our corporate network
through a cisco router. We have configured it as an OSPF router, stubbed
in area 0.0.224.0. This was all working fine until recently, when the OSPF
    routingprotocol shut itself off!

From the error, "OSPF Network Summary Links Overflow", I suspect a
database sizing problem. Any hints as to what?

A detailed description of how to diagnose these errors is in the Problem
Solving Guide.

In this case you need to look at the following two OSPF-General characteristics
and increase them as necessary...

OSPF Maximum Connected Areas
OSPF Maximum System Networks

You can use the "OSPF Peak Network Summary Links" status attribute to see how
many type-3 LSA's the router had, if this is equal to the "OSPF Maximum System
Networks" value then its the second characteristic that needs increasing.
The first attribute should be equal to the number of areas to which the router
is attached.
