3748.0. "Probewatch/Traffic Director/Fronteir" by LUX01::lxp215.bro.dec.com::triniane () Fri Jul 26 1996 15:35

Hello

I have the feeling that our Probewatch SW and the Cisco SW Traffic Director
have the same look and feel.
Would they both be build on the Frontiers SW?.
If yes, could we interrogate CISCO routers (which are Rmon compatible)
with Probewatch
and vice-versa could Traffic Director interrogate our probes.

it would be an added value for a customer where we are competing versus HP.

Regards

    I don't know what the Cisco product is based on, but our PROBEwatch
    software is based on the Frontier NetScout software. Some of the
    look and feel, probably has to do with the fact that RMON is a standard
    that defines how and what type of data is kept by an RMON compliant
    device.

    Compatibility is anybones guess!

    The fact that Frontier has licensed their software to Digital and
    Cisco is not secret for anyone. DataComm and other magazines
    mention it in several industry analysis.
