| Hi,
A couple of questions?
1. The DECswitch 900EF has two AUI ports to use. What's happening with
the other AUI port.
2. Why do you wan't each Thickwire tap to go into an RJ45 repeater?
On the issue of DETPM to H4005..**this will not work**. The DETPM-AA is
a transceiver and expects to be powered from an Active device. The
config. you were asking about is a passive-passive connection. A
H4005 cant be plugged in with a DETPM.
You're best bet (If someone else has a better idea, please let me
know!) would be to use the two AUI ports on the DECswitch 900EF for
twop of the LANs and put in a DECrepeater 90FA to provide you with the
third AUI connection into the Hub. Of course the 90FA will only connect
to the default 'thinwire' channel in the Hub backplane.

| Of course, the DEFMI (DECrepeater 90FS) does have *ONE* flexlan
available to it. Although it is a 90 module it does allow for one
FLEXlan connection (the first flexlan). So you could use it's AUI.
(note that the hub's MAM (management module) will take the first
FLEXlan that you connect the DEFMI onto and magically relocate it to
the upper connector. Note that this also only works with ONE set of
DEFMI modules or DETMI modules - it won't work with module #2 in the
hub (i.e. to a different LAN) because there is only room for one
FLEXlan on the upper connector..)
The DECrepeater 900GM also has an AUI on it.
If you didn't want to consume a hub slot, you could also externally use
a DETML in a Stacking unit which has an AUI on the back of it. (Note
that this stack with the AUI is only supportd with the DETML.) Take
the Twisted pair to the DECrepeater 900 from the DETML and the AUI to
the transciever. (They do make AUI to TP boxes - which are active
components and, essentially a single port repeater, so why not just use
a DEC product instead and get a few more repeater ports...)
Hope that helps,
