3545.0. "Packet probe slip connection" by UTRTSC::VDCRUIJSEN () Tue May 21 1996 14:20

Hello

I know this is asked before but I cant find the right answer in this notes
file.

We have problems getting a slip connection to work on packet probe.
We see the same problem on the ethernet and token ring probe.

I used option 8 to enable slip on the management port, setup my PC for TCP/IP
slip, but the IP connection to the probe failed (ping).
With a datascope we found the probe not sending slip data but echo the original
send data (still in menu mode).
We use option 11 to get into command line mode and entered the command
"set agent_options slip_port on" since that time no response at all from the
probe. It seems we lots the probe

Questions: 1)Is there a way to reset the probe to factory default, without a
	     a working connection to the probe
           2)Does probewatch via the slip port work?
           3)What are the correct commands to get the slip port to work.

Regards Gerrit

    I have done this when testing in the Systems Test Group and it does
    work (via SLIP)

    	some of the details that I can rember (over a year ago...):

         [11] Enter Command-line Mode (Interface SERIAL)
                - Enter "help" to see the commands at the command-line
    		  prompt (%)

                - To Verify the SERIAL interface, you must set the below
                  Command-line options, and use a SERIAL terminal (ie: PC
    		  connected via SERIAL interface) to verify the SERIAL
    	          interface:

                   * % set agent_options slip_port on
                   * Then [12] Reset Agent (for the above change to take effect)

    Good Luck,
    Tom
