3479.0. "decserver confusion" by CSC32::D_PERRIN () Thu Apr 18 1996 23:54

Just when you think you understand...

    Ok, dechub 90, decagent 90 (3.0.1) and decserver90m (nas 1.5).

From hubwatch/win 4.1, I can bring up the hub and double-click on the 90m
and everything works, except that the ds90m is NOT in my agent
    table.

Why does this work? I'm expecting to get "no mac address specified"

Ok, I'll answer my own question. It appears that the server is
being autodiscovered by the agent and then the agent is talking
    to it via mop.

I may have shot myself in the foot here too. I found out that
somebody loaded NAS 1.6 field test on the server. (You can't trust
equipment at the CSC to ever be 'normal').

I'm not sure if this behavior is true for NAS 1.5.

Server 90m (4 meg) are autodiscoverable & managable. Maybe your
consusing this server with a server 90tl (1 meg) which must be added
to the denma & hubwatch_agents table. As for nas 1.6. Well, we in
systems test have not been given a pointer to this baselevel and have
not checked it out in any type of hub or even server for that matter.
I'll have to go poking the server folks to see if server testing got
    bypassed again.

DNAS V1.6 is currently in External Field Test. You can get a pointer to the
Internal Field Test kit from our Remote Access Engineering internal web page:
