3335.0. "Address Filtering" by HGOVC::ANTHONYCHIU () Wed Mar 06 1996 23:48

    Hello,

    (1)
    When I set up the address filter (by specifying one the MAC address) for
    the FDDI port on 900EF, we can successfully filter out the source which
    is external to the hub900 to access the other modules installed in the
    hub. ( We use PING to verify the connectivity).

    After that, we tried to put one the module address (as destination address)
    in the address filter on the same port. But this time, we can't block any
    traffic to access this module.

    Question : Is the address filter for both source and destination
    filtering or only works with source address filtering ?

    (2) Does someone know whether we can down load the Resilience software
    to try internally ?

    Thanks
    Anthony

3335.1Filtering & Internal-use ResilienceSLINK::HOODYour bad news bearThu Mar 07 1996 00:1412
    (1) It's source-and-destination filtering together. Anil can give
        a more detailed explanation on how this works.

    (2) You can get (FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY) Resilience for Windows, V1.0
        via anonymous ftp from slink.dechub.lkg.dec.com. Directions on
        how to do this are listed elsewhere in this notesfile. You want
        the [.resilv1] directory.

    Anthony, take a look at notes 895.1, 895.9
    Also there is a pointer to our internal web page which has a
    good description of filtering on the DECswitch products.
    Open up your favorite web browser and open .....
