3177.0. "DEcrepeater 900TM upgrade ver 1.0 to ver 2.0" by GIDDAY::STANISLAUS () Thu Jan 18 1996 11:09

I have heard two cases reported so far in South Pacific Region
about DECrepeater 900TM's becoming brain dead (self test failed) after
upgrading from ver 1.0 to ver 2.0. The files where obtained over
Internet and I am not ruling out the possibilty of corruption while
copying the files from system to system - Unix, DOS, etc.

I just posted this to find out if someone else has seen this
    problem.

3177.1BOOTP a new flash image. DETMMJULIET::HARRIS_MASales Executive IIFri Jan 19 1996 00:4016
Yes, several folks here in this conference (incl me) found the same
problem. Never really determined WHY it happened though. Flash seems to
    become corrupted.

The good news: BOOTP requests start coming out the the module the next
time you power it asking for an image called "DETMM".

In theory, you can configure a BOOTP server with the module's ethernet
address, an assigned IP address, and the DETMM200.BIN image name and
let it fly! (EZ-Loader is a good BOOTP server that comes with
    HUBloader.)

I couldn't make this work for unknown reasons, but the theory seems
solid and svereal of the folks in LKG seem to agree.

Also, check IROCZ::NETRIDER for a new version of the EZ loader. I'll
post the note number when I find it, but I just used it at the SE forum
and the new version is a lot better than V1.0

-< Kits via Anonymous FTP >-
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All the NetRider kits are now available via Anonymous FTP.

FTP to feenix.lkg.dec.com (16.20.180.1), log in as anonymous using your
Internet address for the password.

The various kits can be found as follows in the [anonymous] root directory:

Kit Sub-directory
--- -------------
NetRider V1.1 for Windows [.netrider.client11]
NetRider V1.1 Loader [.netrider.server11]
NetRider V1.1 for Macintosh [.netrider.macintosh.client011]

If you have any trouble accessing these directories using FTP, send me
mail.

-Mark

Special Note regarding the Macintosh kit: If you're going to copy the
Macintosh kit using FTP, the file you want (in the above Mac directory) is
NETRIDER_1.1_INSTALLER;1 (which is the 5MB installer). Its a weird looking
file name, granted. There are lots of other oddly named files in that
directory because the directory is also the Macintosh file server volume
for the kit. So, most of the names that look odd from this FTP view look
normal when viewed through a Macintosh. :-)

I got netrider installed it on my pc. Configured the
    addresses/software/ip. Everything looks ok.
When I go into netrider loader and start and let it run 10
minutes I see 242 bootp but no loads or response.. I tried to get
into the netrider notes but its not available..

Picture below is what I see in the netrider icon

       	      Bootp	Tftp

Did you try at IROCZ::NETRIDER ? It used to be on TOOK:: but moved a
