3026.0. "900MS weird LCD display" by LEMAN::PAIVA (Hawkeye - Network Support @GEO) Mon Dec 04 1995 14:05

    Hi!

    A customer has a DEChub 900MS (V4.1.0) populated with a DECserver 90M
    (slot 1), a DECrepeater 90C (slot 2) and a DECswitch 900EF (slot 8 -
V1.5.2) that works perfectly except that the LCD display has permanently

    EXCEPT V0=08 SR=2700 PC=00601AA4:FAILED

Apparently, meaning from HUBwatch and connection-wise everything else
is OK. I asked the customer to dump the error log for me to see if it
reports anything (will get it tomorrow). Any idea of what's going on ?

    Pedro

PS: The customer says that if he powers down & up the hub the display
will disappear but will come again later.

If that message is displayed permanently, then the hub manager (MAM)
cannot be running. The PC address could indicate a hardware diagnostic
failure. Find out if the MAM ever reaches the "Selftest Complete
    Start Main Firmware" message.

    RIP dear MAM!

Had a message from the customer first thing in the morning. When he
went there to dump the error log, the message would be continuously
displayed immediatly after power up, so he decided to change the MAM module
at 5 A.M. and the problem "disappeared".

To answer your question (.1) the "Selftest Complete..." is never
reached as it hangs in the selftests (that's why the customer decided
to swap - he had a spare hub - the MAM module).

    Thanks.

    Pedro
