3013.0. "100 or 200Mbps on a backplane dual-ring?" by ZPOVC::HWCHOY (On a foul day, you can complain forever.) Tue Nov 28 1995 05:16

    Hi,

    I have a DEChub 900MS with 2 x DECswitch 900EF and 1 x PEswitch 900TX
    forming a dual-ring in the backplane. Do I get 100Mbps or 200Mbps
    bandwidth on the FDDI?

    Thanx & Rgds,
    Choy Heng-Wah

    100Mbps. Not sure why you thought you'd get 200 ?

Note 1330.0 DB900MX and Full Duplex 4 replies

    A simple question, I hope.

    1. Does the DECbridge 900MX support Digital Full Duplex mode on the
       FDDI ports.

    Thanks,

    Yup but only if it is connected to 1 device and it supports FDX.
    However a GIGAswitch line card connected to 2 DB900MX's as a ring
    will not operate in FDX mode.

Also note that the max data rate out of the box is 60 Mb/s (6 Ethernet ports).
So full duplex may give you a very small latency benefit, but it cannot give
you a throughput benefit.

	FDX isn't working in the DB900MX. This will be stated in the
	release notes. This is a firmware bug and we hope to fix this
	in the 45 day update.

	But as Paul mentioned, this feature is of very little use in this
	product.

3013.4Ok, so is the documentation getting updated?PTOJJD::DANZAKTue Nov 28 1995 20:206
    It may have been answered in HERE, but is it getting into the
    DOCUMENTATION so the CUSTOMER can understand it? Better yet - is it
    also getting into the pre-sales info...?
