2880.0. "Inconsistant FDDI utilization display in Hubwatch" by CSC32::B_GOODWIN (MCI Mission Critical Support Team) Wed Oct 18 1995 20:08

I have 2 DC900MX in my DH900. When I use hubwatch to look at them, the
utilization dial on the first one in my hub (slot 1) says n/a, the second one
shows a utilization (slot 2). Can anyone explain? Both DC900's have the A/B
ports connected to the hub b/p and are running V3.1.1, the hub is V4.1.0 and
hubwatch v4.1 for windows.

Thanks,
Brad

Brad's versions are the latest ones, noter -.1
is behind.

I haven't heard of this curious bug, though with
Hubwatch I often find it useful to hit Refresh
before I look at anything, while turning around
three times and howling at the moon.

If you have recently inserted the DC900, or it
was reset and doing selftest last time Hubwatch
looked at it, Hubwatch could have built an
incomplete picture. Try Refresh or turn on polling.

I talked to one of the engineers who developed the DC900.
Apparently some early DC900 modules were manufactured with a MAC-2
media interface chip and later ones with the MAC-3, which is what
had been spec'd. The MAC-3 has more capabilities, including
the gathering the data for network utilization. This chip
difference is _not_ reflected in the hardware version number.
