2813.0. "Urgent : Powerswitch certification for Europe countries ?" by TLSE01::SELLES (Pierre-Jean - Toulouse -France) Fri Sep 29 1995 21:38

has Powerswitch been certified for use in Europe countries ?
and in my case in France ?

in the documentation copied from the network , i cant see
no indication of certification ( like : CE,CSA,FCC,TUV,UL,VCCI )

we have a customer here , before bying up to 200 Powerswitch ,
they want to be sure , if the Powerswitch fails , it will not damage
the 2 electrical power networks it was connected to
( no chance to have a short-circuit between the two power networks ? )

how it is possible to convince this customer ?

thanks for your answer

The Powerswitch was tested on compliance with CE class A requirements, and
it carries CE mark ( I believe, the safety part was completed as well).
From the design approach it can be shown that there is no possibility of a short
circuit between two power inputs as these are switched by an electro-mechanical
relay (Bob Macarthur can decribe this in details). The note re. CE compliance
approval is attached. You can place this message in the notes file as a "reply"
if necessary.

SUBJECT: CE-Marking approval for the POWERswitch H7661

The POWERswitch H7661 (Digital part number: -H7661-AA ) has been
issued Manufacturers Declaration of Compliance number 1195 and may now
be shipped with the CE-marking label.

The CE-marking label part number is 36-36842-01, and should be either

         > affixed by Manufacturing, prior to product ship, to the
product in the same area as the existing regulatory
            label.
       OR
         > added as a graphic element (via ECO) to the existing
            production regulatory labels.

This approval is LIMITED to the product variants identified in the in
the APPIX Database (see the field CE Label Indicator).

This approval covers compliance to the following directives:

89/336/EEC on the Electromagnetic Compatibility of equipment

73/23/EEC on the Safety of Low Voltage equipment

93/68/EEC on the labelling of products with the CE mark

If CHANGES to these products are made (by adding-in or modifying),
this CE-Label authorisation becomes, in principle, invalid.

Pierre-Jean,

This product is UL Listed to UL1950, CSA Certified to CAN/CSA 22.2 No.
950, and UL Classified to IEC950. The safety reports confirming the
approvals are available on request. However, the customer should be happy
with the Declaration of Compliance, a copy of which you already got.

Leo Simon
