2797.0. "X Toolkit Warning: I18NOpenFile: Couldn't open file decw$system_defaults:hub_gsw_gui_lc_sum.uid - MrmFAILURE" by SWETSC::ALBINSSON () Tue Sep 26 1995 11:59

Hi all.

Anyone seen this.
Customer tryes to start HUBwatch from a VAXserver 3600 and display it to a VAXstation 2000.
Then he gets the following.

$ watc/agent msir01

HUBwatch for OpenVMS, Revision V3.1.3
(I) HUBWATCH$LIBRARY = SYS$LOGIN
(W) Using community public
(W) Agent type DETMM found for 130.237.217.223
X Toolkit Warning: I18NOpenFile: Couldn't open file decw$system_defaults:hub_gsw
_gui_lc_sum.uid - MrmFAILURE
Failed to fetch UID files for hub type 16

I cheked the logical structure of the logical lnm$file_dev but can't se anything
strange whith it.

$sho log /str lnm$file_dev/full
   "LNM$FILE_DEV" [super] = "LNM$PROCESS" (LNM$SYSTEM_DIRECTORY)
        = "LNM$JOB"
        = "LNM$GROUP"
        = "LNM$SYSTEM"
        = "DECW$LOGICAL_NAMES"
1  "LNM$PROCESS" [kernel] = "LNM$PROCESS_TABLE" [terminal] (LNM$PROCESS_DIRECTORY)
1  "LNM$JOB" [kernel] = "LNM$JOB_817F3B00" [terminal] (LNM$PROCESS_DIRECTORY)
1  "LNM$GROUP" [kernel] = "LNM$GROUP_000001" [terminal] (LNM$PROCESS_DIRECTORY)
1  "LNM$SYSTEM" [kernel,no_alias] = "LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE" [terminal] (LNM$SYSTEM_DIRECTORY)
1  "DECW$LOGICAL_NAMES" [exec,table] = "" [terminal] (LNM$SYSTEM_DIRECTORY)
$

Has anyone else seen this ?

Reported elsewhere here and in QAR database in graphic detail about a year ago.

You've bumped into a resource problem. I don't remember the details, but it is
an file limit problem. Try upping fillm. (But I also don't remember if that
will *definitely* fix it.)

HUBwatch opens an incredible number of files.

This problem never got solved.

The customer had a cluster with m3500 and ~10 vs2000 (hi tech).....
He was runing VMS 5.5-? and Motif 1.1.

I adviced the customer to get a new Station to run Hubwatch on and uppgrade to
Motif 1.2-3 and also VMS to later vertion.
