2637.0. "DEFMM to DEFLM what length?" by MEO78A::BARNHOORN (Barney to his friends) Mon Aug 14 1995 07:17

What distances does the DECrepeater 900FP and DEFLM support?

A Customer wants to replace existing Fibre Optic DEC LANBridge 150s
with DEChub 900 with 900EF switches, and 900FP and at the remote ends
    DEFLM.

The existing lengths of this fibre optic runs are approx 1.5 kms.

The Network Products Guide and Open DECconnect Applications Guide don't
seem to mention maximum supported lengths.

    Thanks

    Mark.

The DEFLM and DEFMM support up to 2 km per the 10BaseFL specification.

Mark, the 900FP is a 10baseFL compliant product, so it supports
2km links of the recommended fiber cable. I'm not sure about the
DEFLM whether it does 10baseFL or not. Perhaps someone else will
have the answer on the DEFLM.

I was told by someone in engineering some time ago (when I had the same
question) that the DEFLM is also 10baseFL compliant, hence 2Km.
