2534.0. "PORTswitch and Power Loss" by SNOFS1::KHOOJEANNIE () Tue Jul 18 1995 06:21

    A couple of questions on the PORTswitch 900TP:

    - when a standalone PORTswitch 900TP is configured with multiple LANs, and
    there is a power loss, when the power is returned, is the config still
    retained? (what about the other PORTswitches and DEC/PEswitches?)

    - what happens with a PORTswitch in a DEChub 900 - either when you
    remove the module, or if DEChub power is lost?

    Thank you

      A power loss should not cause the configuration to be lost. On a
      PORTswitch 900TP/CP if you setup different Port Groups and power
      is lost, the Port Groups will not be lost.

    If power is lost the configuration should survive. When power is
    restored the Port Groups and their mapping to the backplane LAN
    segments should remain intact.

    If you remove a PORTswitch from a DEChub, the Port Groups will be saved
    on the module, but the mapping of those Port Groups to the backplane
    LAN segments on the DEChub will be forgotten (by design).
