2510.0. "PW Windows V3.2: cannot open SNMP session with Agent" by MFRNW1::SCHUSTER (Karl Schuster @RTO OMS Munich Germany) Thu Jul 13 1995 12:26

I have successfully installed PW V3.2 for windows on my Hinote
Notebook. The ethernet connection works. I can PING to my Probe.

But SNMP requests to the probe do not work (eg. remote login, domain
    manager ).

Errormessage: Cannot open SNMP session with Agent "probe1"

It seems that IP UDP does not work ?

I considered already the following hints:
    ( in /probew/ipstack/pwtct.ini )
    	- specification of a default gateway
        - UDPMAXSOCK = 20

    Who can help ?

2510.1is it a community string problem?NAC::FORRESTThu Jul 13 1995 21:094
What happens when you click on the Test button for that probe?
Does public work for the community strings?

    test button result:

    	GENERAL INFORMATION

    	IP Address: 16.185.0.226
    	Read Community: "public" Failed
    	Write Community: "public" Failed

With EDIT agent I can see that my probewatch is configured with
community public - and the agent is also configured with community
public. Probewatch from my OSF1-system works with the agent.

2510.3sounds like SNMP not getting out of the PCNAC::FORRESTFri Jul 14 1995 15:325
It sounds like you have an issue at the WINSOCK level. Do you happen to
have HUBwatch on this system? If so, is it working? If the answer is
no, then see Note 2008 for suggestions on No Response from Agent fixes.
PROBEwatch uses the same stack, so most of the suggestions apply.
