2366.0. "PC Console Cable for PackeProbe?" by ANGLIN::CLAYTON (Merlin Clayton (314)947-6763) Fri Jun 09 1995 16:31

I have a customer trying to get access to the console port of a packetprobe
with the standard MW-Windows Terminal utility.

He has a home-grown 9-pin-to-9-pin null modem cable that he is trying to use
- this cable works on the console port of the DECbrouter 90. Howevever,
on the packetprobe, he is not getting any response at all.

I wanted to send him a known good console cable configuration to eliminate
the cable a a potential problem. However, I am not sure what the known good
cable configuration is for the 9pin COM1 port of the PC to the 9pin console
port of the packet probe. Could someone please enlighten me so that I can
get this sent off to this remote customer ASAP?

Thank you.

Merlin

Is this connected from the 9pin COM port on a PC?

What's at both ends of your DECconnect cable? An H8571-J?

So does your cable look like this:

   PC	H8571-J ============================================ H8571-J  Packet
			E101876 (BC16E) cable			      Probe
