2022.0. "Problems with DECNDU+ for VMS" by CGOWGS::GIBB (John Gibb Canadian Multi Vendor Support) Fri Feb 17 1995 13:59

Hello,

I just pulled the latest kit down for DEcndu + for VMS. I am using the kit from the following location,
NETCAD::PROJ$706:[NDU.V3.RELEASE.VMS.POST_VMS_5_5].

I have tried to install it on a V5.5-2 platform and a V6.1 platform. In both cases when I attempt to run it
I receive the following massage,

$ download show version

%DCL-W-ACTIMAGE, error activating image MTHRTL
-CLI-E-IMGNAME, image file $23$DKA0:[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.][SYSLIB]UVMTHRTL.EXE
-SYSTEM-F-SHRIDMISMAT, ident mismatch with shareable image

Has anyone else run into this problem and are there any solutions or work arounds..

Thanks..

    If you've got a copy of the latest Digital Systems Journal, look on
    page 27 for a short tutorial on the "Ident mismatch error". In short,
    it says that the most common cause of this error is that you're
    attempting to run an image on a verson of VMS older than the one on
    which the image was linked.

    Relinking the image is the best way of getting rid of this. But if you
    don't have the object file, you *could* patch the executable to change
    the ident, but that of course is unsupported.

John,

I am running that version of DECndu Plus on my OpenVMS VAX V6.1 workstation with
no problems. Your system should have the following file in SYS$SYSTEM:

	NDU$MAIN.EXE;5           117/120      20-JUN-1994 13:35:43.51

In addition, my V6.1 system has the following files in SYS$LIBRARY:

	MTHRTL.EXE;2             357/360      19-MAR-1994 06:59:10.66
	UVMTHRTL.EXE;2           357/360      19-MAR-1994 06:59:12.57

Thanks for the reply's.

The images MTHRTL.EXE and UVMTHRTL.EXE are a different size on my system's. I am running V5-5.2 and V6.0.

I guess the kit was linked under V6.1. Should I use the other kit that was available? Post vms 5.5 ..

Thanks for the reponses..
