2010.0. "management for Gigaswitch/FDDI" by TAVIS::ALTER () Tue Feb 14 1995 10:30

I understood that HUBwatch 3.1 for windows does not support
    Gigaswitch/FDDI.

Does the V3.1 for OSF/1 supports Gigaswitch/FDDI (without POLYCENTER
    netview)?
Does the V3.1 for OpenVMS supports Gigaswitch/FDDI?

Is there any graphical application for NetView (not POLYCENTER
    netview) to support Gigaswitch/FDDI?

HUBwatch V3.1 on OSF and VMS do support Gigaswitch/FDDI. HUBwatch for
WIndows support won't be available until V4.0.

Can HUBwatch V3.1 on OSF/1 and VMS SETUP GIGAswitch ?
Or HUBwatch can do only status monitoring of GIGAswitch ?
For example, Filtering, port grouping, rate-limitation, etc...

    Regards,
    Kohei

2010.3HUBwatch can configure GIGAswitchNETCAD::FORINOThu Feb 16 1995 13:016
You'll need the console port on the GIGAswitch to set up some basic
information - like the IP address. Once that is done HUBwatch can
be used to configure and manage the GIGAswitch. HUBwatch will do
alot more that just monitoring the GIGAswitch.

But there are limitations to managing the GS from HUBwatch. For example
    there is no -

            - rate limiting
            - ability to dump fwd db to a file
            - M-port support
            - AGL support

And no plans to add this for HUBwatch V4.

    re .4

The ability to dump fwd db to a file will be in of HUBwatch for OSF/1
    V4.

    re .6

I think you'll have to ask the product manager, Jack Forrest, about the
    others including AGL suport.

er, I'm not sure about AGL (???) but M port and rate limiting???? Just
how should a customer set this stuff if HUBwatch won't do it and they
    have no other SNMP manager....?

re .8:

A fair query (if fancifully phrased) and deserving of a reply.

Silence not intentional. Sometimes you just miss a reply. Thanks for
bringing this back to our attention.

M-port enable will be in HUBwatch V5.0. No plans yet for Rate Limiting
but we will add it to the wish list.
