1952.0. "90ts hub manager?" by GIDDAY::DRANSFIELD (Mike Dransfield, Sydney RSSG) Tue Jan 31 1995 18:29

Is the decrepeater 90TS supposed to be hub manager in a 90 hub?
    I have a customer with a hub with decbridge 90, decrepeater 90t
and decrepeater 90ts in a single hub. An decagent90 in another
hub, but can't manage the decrepeater 90t.
The decbridge 90 claims it is not the hub manager, which leads to
the supposition that the 90ts is being hub manager, but he can't
see any way to tell that it is, nor see the other hub modules in
    the hub.
How is it supposed to be possible to manage the 90t repeater in
    this case?
    thanks,
    mike

The 90TS cannot currently act as hub manager.

The agent in the other hub should be able to manage the modules
in this hub, including the 90T. Have you connected the two hubs
together using the MJ6 connector on the side of each hub? That's the
interface which allows the agent to see the modules in the other hub.
If you've made this connection properly, the agent should be able to
see and manage the modules in the other hub.

You should not have to connect the hubs together with the serial cable to be
able to manage the DECrepeater 90T in the remote hub. Assuming you have
connected to the bridge (I assume that's how you determined that the bridge was
saying it is not the hub manager) does a SHOW BRIDGE command indicate that "Hub
mgmt enable" set to 1? If not, this is the problem.

As Marc pointed out, the 90TS should not be trying to be the hub manager, so the
bridge should be.

Standard questions:

1) What are the firmware revs of the DECbridge, DECagent and DECrepeater 90TS?

2) Is there a second community defined in the DECagent that has the DECbridge in
its correct slot?
